OVER 14000 CLASSROOMS CONSTRUCTED IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS TO ACCOMMODATE JSS STUDENTS :CS OGAMBA

 

Education cabinet secretary Julius OGAMBA says the government has constructed over 14000 classrooms countrywide in the past three months to accommodate students transitioning from primary to junior secondary school (JSSs)

Speaking on Tuesday at Uthiri Primary school in Nairobi county,the CS said 14500 out of 16000 classrooms grade 9 students require are ready.

Ogamba said his ministry plan to put 1600 science laboratory in junior secondary school 

According to the Minister over 9.9 million textbooks have been printed to address the shortage recorded since JSS was introduced with the Competency -Based -Curriculum in (CBC) in January 2023

" Each student will have their own textbooks across all the subjects.Parents should never have to buy books ,that is the government's work ," Ogamba said 

At the same time ,the CS urged parents to register the children with the Social Health Authority (SHA) despite the challenges recorded with the new public health care system.

"Every new thing had it's challenges but we are working to make sure SHA is fully working.Do not make this challenges make you not to register your children because this cover will help in the future," he said.

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Released by CS Julius Migos

  Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos last week released the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education results at New Mitihani House, Nairobi. 962,512 candidates wrote the exam as compared to 889,453 in 2023 in 10754 centres across the country. The number which represented 7.19 per cent. Some 30370 examiners marked the exams in 40 marking centers. For the first time female candidates were more compared to male candidates, where girls were 482,202 while boys were 480,310 representing 50.1 per cent and 49.9 per cent respectively. 1693 candidates scored A representing 0.18 per cent as compared to 1216 in 2023. 246391 candidates representing 25.53 per cent attained C+ and above which was the entry grade to the university. 605774 candidates representing 62.7 per cent got D+ and above. 91 officials across the country were involved in the exam malpractice.
